We are so excited to announce that Coconut teams up with So Press. So Press is a French mass media holding company headquartered in Paris, France. It is one of the largest French newspaper publishers as measured by total daily circulation. Its assets include So Foot, Society, So Foot Club, So Film, Tampon!, Pedale!, TrashTalk, The Running Heroes Society, L'Etiquette, Tsugi, Doolittle, AllSo, Sovage, Doolittle Agence, H3 Media and Derby Digital among many others. The So Press team needed to build an entire video workflow from scratch, with the goal of streaming videos to their community of readers. They smartly use Coconut to scale their transcoding workflow, while converting their assets into many diffrent video formats using HLS.
We had the chance to interview Gilles Francois, CTO at So Press.
Gilles, why did you decide to move your video encoding to the Cloud for So Press?
We needed to have a clean and customisable video player, so we decided to host and stream video on our own. To make this work properly, we needed to outsource video encoding as well.
Why did you choose Coconut?
We found Coconut via Google. It seemed both poweful and very easy to use. Besides we liked the affordable business model, as it was free for 5 minutes long videos.
How fast and handy was your integration with Coconut?
Implementing Coconut was a no brainer. It was fast and easy.
"Encoding videos on the fly with Coconut is dead simple. Besides their API is flexible and easy-to-use. It's a win!"
