We are so excited to announce that Coconut teams up with Edpuzzle.
Edpuzzle is an easy-to-use platform where you can make any video your lesson. With just one click, you can find video lessons created by other teachers. Another click and you can adapt that video by embedding your own questions or audio. Once you're done, assign it to your students and get beautiful hassle-free analytics: see who watched the video, who didn't understand the lesson, and who did a good job. Students can re-watch the video as many times as they need and at their own pace, while you can easily check their progress from your account.
We had the chance to interview Santi Herrero, Co-Founder & CTO at Edpuzzle.
Santi, why did you decide to move your video encoding to the Cloud for Edpuzzle?
Edpuzzle allows any teacher to upload videos and use our tools to turn them into lessons. Moving
our video encoding to the cloud was a no-brainer, in order to support unexpected spikes of video
uploads during the school year. Because teachers don't have a lot of time to prepare their lessons,
we at Edpuzzle do everything in our hands to make that a smooth and quick process. On-demand
video encoding in the cloud is one of those things.
Why did you choose Coconut?
Since we started Edpuzzle 7 years ago, we have tried several cloud services to handle our video
encoding needs. Many were either way too expensive at our scale or required at least one engineer
to become a video infrastructure expert to set things up properly and maintain them. Coconut was
the first service that finally let us get up and running quickly and didn't keep us up at night waiting
for an unexpected bill. In addition, working with Coconut to tailor a plan that worked best for our
profile was very easy.
How fast and handy was your integration with Coconut?
Our integration with Coconut was very smooth. With less than 400 lines of code, we now have a
complex video pipeline that allows us to serve video to all kinds of devices and network conditions.
Also, most importantly for us, it lets us handle the vast variety of video files and formats that our
teachers upload. We barely have to think of our video infrastructure, it just works.
"Coconut has been a key service for us during our rapid growth in schools around the world."
